Scotch & Soda is somewhat of an undercover brand that is quickly being unleashed into the world. And, thank goodness for that. It is fresh, fun and all fashion.
Unlike the majority of brands out there, Scotch & Soda does not let labels and stereotypes define who they are. They allow the diversifcation of culture, places and people be embraced within the textiles and culture of who they are.
If you haven't seen, touched or experienced this brand yet, just wait. When you do, your eyes and taste level may be opened just a little wider than you may be comfortable with. Don't worry. Sometimes it takes a strong brand to make an approachable and fresh impact. Scotch & Soda is fresh. Is real. Is amazing!

The Next Generation of Leather

If you haven't received the memo yet - black leather is back! And, in a very big way. Just step inside any retailer today and you will find something reminiscent of those great 'leather' days. Think Hot Shots, Tom Cruise, motorcyles. Well, although all those images are great, the next generation is giving us a whole new 'remix' of how to wear leather.
Solid leather is great, but today's leather is all about blends. Blending fabrics, patters and even styles. Don't be afraid to let this season take you into a 'dare to be fresh' stage of your style, even if for a moment. It won't take a lot of leather to bring you there. One great thing about this trend is that its everywhere, on everything. You can find tuxedo leggings, poly-blend A-line dresses, ankle boots, the list goes on. I am challenging my very small edgy side to step into a pair of leather jeggings this season - can't wait!
Although this trend is completely fresh and undeniably cool, it won't be around for long. So, if you aren't known as Mr. or Mrs. Moneybags, don't invest in those tempting high-end pieces that will have to go to that secon-hand store, down the street, come March. Luckily, places like Kohls and Nordstrom Rack have these pieces for a bargain. This way, you can have some fun reinventing your look without breaking the bank. On the other hand, if you want to spend the big bucks on a sublime piece of amazing, wearable leather - go for it. You only live once.

The Real Retail

After years of detesting WM, I have recently discovered that Target is just as bad. Although Target will always be a more pleasant shopping experience, for a variety of reasons, it looks like there is no political, economical or even social reason to pretend they are any better than WM. 

It appears that the CEO, although probably the norm among CEOs today, makes about 22k an hour!! That's right - an hour. While, as we can all guess, the majority of the employees are making nil. This number is double what WM's CEO makes. This is just one of the number of things that Target, as a corporation is doing wrong. Why is it that more often than not the $ is divided to create the few wealthy and the majority "scape by"? It is life. Not good enough. It is the way we work and have always been. Not good enough.

This broke my retail heart, as I depend on Target for my one-stop-of-all-things-essential. Although no  company can really escape the belittling of the "masses" by dominating with the dollar, we as consumers can make best decisions based on what we do know. Support local businesses that care about their employees and you. 

This is about as raw as it gets people. Hope you gained a bit of insight. I promise most posts won't have such a big 'agenda'.

Change can be a good thing...although hard to admit at times, something always comes out of change.
